Movies that Matter – A Summer Series

The Summer Launch of Movies that Matter.

Have you ever watched a movie that encouraged or inspired you? Have you seen a movie that you would like to talk about after the credits roll? This summer we are going to host three movie nights that will feature movies worth watching and discussing. We will feature popcorn and some drink options to help make your time at the movies enjoyable. At the close of each movie, we will take a few minutes to talk about an issue or two that the movie raises for us. The three movies come from a twenty-year span, each offering a unique and compelling story. These are free movie events.

We will show Amazing Grace on June 6th from 6:30-8:30 pm. The movie tells the story of William Wilberforce and his efforts to end slavery in the British Empire. He, and his friends, pour their lives into what at point seems to be a useless cause. In the end, they helped change history.

July 11th will feature the movie classic, Chariots of Fire. It draws into Olympic competition, and we discover what drives some history making competitors. The choices they make impact their involvement in the games and their sense of success.

August 1st features Jesus Revolution staring Kelsey Grammer. What happens when the movement of God looks different that we anticipate? What happens when we are pulled out of our comfort zones? How does the church respond? How do we respond? It is a true story where God changes everything and stirs in the life of an unexpected pastor.
