Finding Faith
Family
When you listen to people who are part of Triangle Baptist Church talk about the church, you will most often hear them describe it as “family.” That speaks to the depth of friendships and authentic relationships you can find here. But it also means a great deal more. What draws us together and shapes our relationships with one another is our shared faith in Jesus Christ.
- It is through our faith in Jesus Christ we find hope for living, grace for our failures, and forgiveness for our places of brokenness.
- It is through our faith in Jesus Christ we find a heart for God and love for others.
- It is our faith in Jesus Christ that draws us together in worship and sends us back into our lives as witnesses of our redemption.

God's love for us
The Bible tells us that we are created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27) and that we are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). These, and other verses, remind us that we were created to have a relationship with God. That relationship is broken when we think or act in ways that wound our relationships with others or breaks the way of life God intends for us. When you hear someone speak of “sin” this is what they are talking about.
SIN
We all sin, we know that. We can each look into our own lives and see there are places of brokenness and the impact some of our actions have had on others. In Romans 3:23 we hear; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Because of God’s love for us God made the way for us to be forgiven and redeemed. God made the way for us to have life with God where we are and promises us an eternity with God. God did not wait for us to try to get our lives right or try to live a perfect live. God came for us.
GOD LOVED
Probably the best-known verse in the New Testament is John 3:16. It tells us; For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Jesus came that we might see God face to face. Jesus came to teach us and show us the way to a right life. Jesus came for the sake of our salvation; that our sins might be forgiven and the relationship with God we were created for could be restored. Jesus came that we might have life with God now and forever.
In Ephesians 2:4-5 we hear; But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. God’s great love and mercy for us was on display as Jesus was crucified for our sins and three days later raised to life that we might be forgiven and redeemed. In Romans 6:23 we hear; For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. God loves you and makes the way for your places of brokenness to be made whole, for your relationship with God to be restored, for you to be redeemed that you might live in the hope and grace God has for you.
So how do we receive this gift of salvation, mercy, and grace from God?
In Romans 10:9-10 we hear; If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. We receive this gift by an act of faith. God does not compel us to respond. It is a heart choice we must each make for ourselves. As the Scripture teaches, we must accept Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord; that it is through faith in Jesus we find forgiveness of our sins and our redemption and that we invite Jesus to direct our lives. Once we believe in faith, we are called on to profess our faith to God in prayer.

A Prayer of Faith
Dear God,
I come to you confessing my sins, my thoughts and actions that have wounded others and broken my relationship with you and others. I know that I cannot fix this on my own. I need your love and grace found in faith in Jesus. I believe that Jesus Christ came, died on the cross, and rose again that my sins can be forgiven and that my relationship with you will be redeemed. I invite Jesus to come into my heart to save me and to lead and guide me. I commit my life to you and receive your gift of salvation.
This I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Celebrate
We celebrate your new faith with you. You have made a choice that will impact every part of your life. It is truly a choice with eternal impact. Now it is time to share this news with others.
Share this great news with those you love. This act of faith begins a new season in your life. You have invited God to forgive and redeem you. You have also asked that God would lead and guide you. This will impact how you live your life and live out your relationships with others.
Baptism
Declare your faith publicly. In our tradition as Baptists, you would declare your faith and then be baptized as an outward symbol of your choice for faith in Jesus Christ. The act of baptism becomes a public witness of your new faith.
Being a follower of Jesus Christ is not something we do alone. We are called to be community with and for one another. It is in a community of faith that we worship and grow in our walk with God. It is in a community of faith where we encourage and support one another as we follow the way of Jesus. We invite you to come and worship with us – to walk and grow with us – as we seek to live out our faith in Christ in the midst of our community. If we are not in your area, or you have connections with another church, then go and find your place with them.
May you display the hope, joy, and grace of Jesus in all that you do and say. May you grow in your walk with God and follow God’s way. May the power of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit be with you now and forever.
